Victoria: its own documents

For a game approved by the Commission after 1 January 2003, unless the game is to be operated in the approved “specified area” the games on gaming machines must not allow a bet above the maximum amount as determined from time to time by the Minister in accordance with the Act.

Victorian Appendix, V6.5

For a game approved by the Commission after 1 January 2003, unless the game is to be operated in the approved “specified area” the game must not be played with a gaming machine that accepts banknotes with a denomination greater than $50.

Victorian Appendix, V6.12

This section applies to gaming machines other than those located in the Melbourne Casino. When accumulated credits reach a value of $100 or more, the gaming machine must not accept any further cash input (coin or note other than prize payments).

Victorian Appendix, V6.13

Note that electronic transfers of EGM or jackpot prizes and non-cash gaming tokens up to $1000 are permitted, even if the credits displayed exceed $100.

Victorian Appendix, V6.13

For a game approved by the Commission after 1 January 2003, each spin or wagering of credits can only be initiated by a distinct and separate activation of the machine by the player.

Victorian Appendix, V6.11

Changes to the Victorian Appendix included reducing the cash load-up limit for EGMs to $100, down from $1,000 and removing references to the EGM spin rate, which is set in the Gambling Regulation Act 2003. These changes were announced by the Victorian Government on 16 July 2023 and implemented on 1 December 2025.

Revision 12.1 of the Standard and the Victorian Appendix 2025 came into effect on 1 August 2026

What this means

Victoria’s own appendix is stricter than the national table on cash: the table lists a $1,000 note acceptor cut-off, but outside the Melbourne Casino a machine must stop taking cash once credits reach $100. For games approved after 1 January 2003: outside a “specified area”, notes above $50 are not accepted and the maximum bet is the amount the Minister determines under the Act (the national table lists $5 for clubs and hotels); and each spin must be started by a separate activation by the player.

Tasmania: its own documents

The maximum bet configured for operation on a gaming machine must not exceed $5.

Tasmanian Standards, 3.5.1

The minimum return to player (MINRTP) percentage configured and operated on a gaming machine must not be less than 87%.

Tasmanian Standards, 3.8.1

Note acceptors must not be supplied or configured for use with a gaming machine operating in Tasmanian hotels and clubs.

Tasmanian Standards, 3.9.1

The cash input limit for banknote acceptors used in a gaming machine operating in Tasmanian casinos must not exceed $500.

Tasmanian Standards, 3.7.1

The time between the start and end of a game play must not be less than three seconds in duration (not applicable for non-spinning reel games).

Tasmanian Standards, 3.14.1

The maximum linked jackpot prize permitted to be configured on a gaming machine must not exceed $60 000 in hotels and licensed clubs (note: no prize limit is specified for casinos).

Tasmanian Standards, 3.10.1

What this means

Tasmania’s standards agree with the national table on the $5 maximum bet and the 87% minimum return. Machines in hotels and clubs have no note acceptors at all, casino banknote input is capped at $500, and a spinning-reel game must take at least three seconds.
